Hasag Golf Day 2018

By way of background information, Mitcham Golf course was founded in 1891 and was designed by Tom Morris, who won 4 open championships. The 18 hole course is 5935 yards long with a par of 69. It has some of the finest greens in Surrey. It was therefore quite a challenge for the golfers but the teams produced some fine golf.

There were some birdies and pars scored. We were divided into 4 teams, comprising Team Augusta, St. Andrews, Sunningdale, and Gleneagles named after some of the world’s most famous golf courses, captained by Steve and Jay Squibb, and Brian Tedder on behalf of HASAG and Jennifer Bowden-Smith OBO Slater + Gordon.

It was one of the hottest days of the year so far with wall to wall sunshine- perfect weather conditions to produce some long distance drives and cute putting around the greens.

The scores were close between the respective teams, but Sunningdale just edged it with some impressive golf over 18 holes. They deservedly received the winning trophy which was presented to Brian, who was very chuffed that his team was anointed champions of the day’s event.

The day was rounded off with a buffet and cool drinks at the club house.

The event was sponsored by barrister’s chambers, medical and engineering experts who are frequently instructed to champion the cause of victims of asbestos related illnesses.
