HASAG Asbestos Disease Support is dedicated to supporting people affected by Asbestos-related diseases in the South, South East, London and the Home Counties.

Action Mesothelioma Day 2018 was on the 6th of July.

Action Mesothelioma Day was just over two weeks ago now, and what a day it was. There was a brilliant turnout with lots of friendly faces.
This year, we changed things up and had a sponsored butterfly release. This was a scary task as we had to keep them alive overnight. Thankfully, Alison successfully took care of them and every last one took flight. It looked beautiful on a very hot, sunny day.

Our guest speakers then gave their presentations. Starting with consultant oncologist, Jason Lester. Dr Lester discussed past, present and future trials. Lead Mesothelioma UK Nurse, Anne Moylan then spoke about the work of Mesothelioma UK and what the funding from HASAG enables her to do. Solicitor, Richard Hopgood gave a presentation about the solicitors’ role and the support that they can offer. Solicitor, Guy Darlaston then presented a case study detailing the support solicitors can and have offered in the past.

Throughout the day we had a bake sale, a tombola and canvases for sale. Our raffle included some great prizes including hampers, afternoon teas, vouchers and so much more.

Our total for Action Mesothelioma Day 2018 is £34,000 with more donations still coming in! This is the most we have ever raised during AMD and we have beaten last years total of just over £30,000. This takes our total to just under half a million raised so far, since we started in 2006. We couldn’t be more grateful for everyone’s immense support. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended on the day and everyone who made donations. Without you, we couldn’t do what we do. This money will be split between Mesothelioma UK and The June Hancock fund. Two very worthy charities that we have supported for many years.

If you still wish to donate, you can via the donate button at the top of our website. Or via cheque by post. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
