Providing support for nurses
Ask any mesothelioma patient or their family members what makes a huge difference to them on a daily basis and many will say the tremendous support they receive from nursing staff.
Specialist nurses are a vital lifeline for mesothelioma patients and their families. They provide: care, support, medical advice and information, treatment options, updates on clinical trials as well as much-needed emotional support and comfort.
At HASAG, we appreciate and value the enormous contribution specialist nurses make to the lives of people suffering from asbestos-related diseases and their loved ones. That’s why we do everything we can to support them as much as possible.
We understand that continuing professional development plays an important part in maintaining expertise and the highest possible nursing standards.
We regularly set aside funds to support specialist lung cancer nurses to attend educational conferences. These events provide nursing staff with vast amounts of the very latest information and up-to-date research on treating and caring for people with mesothelioma and other asbestos-related illnesses. Nurses can take this learning back to their own clinical settings and share with colleagues, patients and families.
Our financial support includes not just entry fees to key events and conferences but travel and accommodation costs too.
Important conferences we have helped nurses to attend include:
- World Lung Cancer Conference
- International Mesothelioma Interest Group (IMIG)
- British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG)
- National Lung Cancer Forum for Nurses (NLCFN)
- Mesothelioma UK events
